Brian Lock

Brian Lock is an established British composer who has become well known for creating sumptuous orchestral film scores and for pushing the classical & technological boundaries in modern musical composition.

Brian's music for film and media is characterised by the rich and emotive scores that have been commissioned by leading art-house directors worldwide: from The Land Girls for Britain's David Leland; to the classical music and arrangements in Jane Campion's The Portrait of a Lady ; to the recent French box office hit Vipère au Poing . Brian's work is also widely featured on television around the globe, including the BBC's Coast and Panorama programmes, The Oprah Winfrey Show and the CBS flagship current affairs series 60 Minutes.

Brian's latest projects challenge all current definitions of musical style, finding a voice in aspects of musical genres that are normally divided such as film, electronica, contemporary classical, ambient and sound design. This is no cross-over though, this 'hybridisation' of genres comes simply as the best means to express what he needs to say. Brian's new work defies our present understanding of musical concepts and pushes at the very edges of musical genres and form.

Brian has also received numerous accolades throughout his career including Ivor Novello nominations and awards from The Worshipful Society Of Musicians and The Vaughan Williams Trust for Best British Film Music.
